This is a great example of a stereotypical image that has sprung out of the minds of settlers and is in no way representative of actual native americans.  A sexualised white female in a headband (made popular in Hollywood in order to keep the wigs on non-native actors posing as Indians), a feather, and a ‘peace pipe’.  Oh yes, she’s also sitting ‘Indian style’ (thankfully now called ‘criss cross apple sauce’ or other less pejorative terms).
Please don’t tag this sort of thing as #native american.  It’s more like #settlers - imagining-native- americans- from- a- position- of- colonialist- power.  Would you take a picture of a ‘black mammy’ and label it #african american?
